Mater Filius was started in Mexico City by Miriam and Jose Manuel Tejeda with hope to see young pregnant women healthy, supported, safe and empowered.
Listen to their amazing story here.
2003
While visiting family in Mexico City, Maria Resendiz stumbled upon a Mater Filius home and spent some time with Miriam and Jose Manuel. She knew she needed to bring this ministry back home to Cincinnati.
2016
Maria Resendiz began a small prayer group and with the help of Henry and Betsy Jacquez, they formed a board of directors and found a location for their first home in Delhi.
2019
The home was officially dedicated on October 24, 2020. This was home for 8 amazing and brave mothers and saw the birth of 4 wonderful little children.
2020
In July 2021, Mater Filius was able to purchase a larger, permanent home for the ministry and began plans to relocate.
2021
On March 5th, 2022 our new home was blessed by Archbishop Schnurr, and we opened on August 8th; the feast of St Dominic and the birthday of our founder, Miriam.
